Montesalario Sangiovese Reserva (Tuscany, Italy)
GRAPE: Sangiovese
REGION: Toscana
COLOR: Garnet Red with Violet Highlights
TASTE: This red is produced exclusively during vintage years, crafted from 100% Sangiovese grape requiring an extensive and meticulous process to truly express the strong characteristics and natural elegance of the varietal. Sangiovese Riserva spends 18 months in French oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle creating the strong body and smooth taste that makes a perfect match with roasted or stewed meats, and game.

Chateau Mas Neuf, Costieres De Nimes, 2007
A classic Costieres from Syrah (45%), Grenache (25%), Mourvedre and Carignane (15% each), done in 10% used barrels. Tender and rich in the mouth with plush black cherry and cassis fruit, notes of brown spice, pepper, and Provencal herbs. Versatile, delicious, and dangerously inexpensive.

Mas De Boislauzon 2007 Chateauneuf-Du-Pape
“According to the Wine Advocate: The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, a big time sleeper of the vintage, is well-worth buying. The finest traditional Chateauneuf produced at Mas de Boislauzon, it boasts a saturated ruby/purple color as well as a spectacular nose of licorice, black raspberries, black cherries, and lavender, and an exquisitely full-bodied, multidimensional and layered wine with not a hard edge to be found. Tremendous depth, beautiful freshness, and admirable purity suggest this 2007 will evolve for 12+ years. Readers should move quickly to secure some of this fabulous bargain.”

On the menu –Truffili di Pellegrini’s Piccoletti Pleasures, Lugano Luxuries and sliced strawberries – better known to Mackenzie as “stubbies!” Wow! Winner, winner!

Dylan played conductor! He drove the train to the depot (the chocolate and strawberry plate) where he picked up an order for chocolate and strawberries. Fully loaded for the first lucky recipient, he commandeered the train around the track to sister, Mackenzie. Mackenzie watched every movement with great patience as “Thomas the Engine” slowly rolled to her place to deliver chocolate and stubbies! Great cheers! Thomas made lots of deliveries! Orders came in, and Conductor Dylan drove “Thomas” to the Depot for another pick up of requested chocolate and strawberries! Off again to make another delivery to another dinner guest! Delightful squeals, big “wows” and lots of fun was had by all!

This Sunday, the “Easter Bunny Train” will roll again on the dining room table after dinner! A furry little bunny doll will sit atop the engine as the train makes deliveries to guest young and old! Many Truffili chocolates will be enjoyed as a special treat for all!
